CRAIG DAVID's Interview for craigdavid.it
Here there is the whole interview of Mr. David released on 13/04/2005

The First question is the most obvious: can you tell us something ‘bout the new album?
It will come out in the summer: it is me expressing myself a little deeper, being more sure ‘cos I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time on this album.
Have you ever tought ‘bout realising a live or acoustic album?
I'd like to; I've tought about it, perhaps I will compile some songs from my concerts (‘cos I do a lot of acoustic stuff on stage live) and make a collection.
What do you think ‘bout projects where different styles are mixed like Jay-z and Linkin Park did?
It is kinda cool: sometimes can be truly creative and the sound amazing but don't have to be any hideen agenda. If it is something you truly believe in and not just an attempt to sell more records by pleasing the fans of another group, is it ok.
Why for European singer is so difficult to break in the USA music market?
I think a great song sell records across the sea, it doesn't matter really where you're from: if you create a great song you will sell record. If you creat a amazing song, amazing album and can perform live relly well I think America will have to open its eyes.
Are you planning a tour? Will also perform in Italy ?
Yes for sure. There are many different countries I've stayed and visited but Italy is one of my favourites so for sure I will perform there: I've spent a lot of time in Milan , Rome and a cuople in Sardinia ..”with this new album I thik things are ready about to heat up”
Is there another artist you'd like to sing with?
I'd really be interesting of doing something with R.Kelly ‘cos I'm a great fan: he makes great R&B songs that at the sametime becomes more pop, good ballads..he really understand music so I think it would be great to work with.
Share with me a positive and negative memory you most remembar since you do this job.
Positive: I guess everytime someone comes up and tells me your songs affected me in a positive way and listening to them remembers the moments of their life: that's cool, is much better than an award.
Negative: I think that things happen so fast that sometimes I haven't time to enjoy the things I'm doing ‘cos time really pass fast.
Do you have a dream that you would still realize?
Selling albums is great but I'd just like to be happy as I am now surrounded by lots of great people.
For a long time people have talked about a collaboration between you and Usher: it is going to be happen?
I think in a matter of time it will: when we met a few years ago we were both realising albums and it wasn't the right time but I'm confident in the future defenitly there will be a collaboration.
Will Katy Holmes appear on the new album?
She is backing vocalist on a few songs: I wanted to introduce her on some of my tracks because the tone of her vocals is really cool and compliments mine well
Have you ever tought ‘bout acting in a movie?
I think is really not my thing : I love my music, I love performing..i prefer to go to the dvd store and pick up Al Pacino' “Scarface” and watch him act.
In your free time what do you like to do?
I love to play sports:I love football, I used to play as a goolkeaper for my school but also mid-field. I like to watch football, I support team of Southampton but because all the people around me are Chelsea supporters I go to see Chelsea perform. I like to socialize and go to nice restaurants ‘cos I think you need to have a balance so that you don't become a recluse writing songs all day, wich is great but you can't really appreciate what you have achieved.
Will you ever write a biograhy or a book about your life?
I think I haven't lived enough to write ‘bout, there is'n t much to talk about now. If I live a little bit more perhaps in the future it could be done
Do you often use the Web? Do you like it?
Yes I do. I like to see what is going on, it's great that you can check anything with one click..
What is your favorite song, which one is most yours?
Fill Me In ‘cos it came out with garage music with a new sound and R&B was being fused into that, I think it's really fresh and different and peaople like: “What is this?”
I know you speak a good spanish: will you ever sing in this language?
Poquito español..i think if it felt natural to do I would, but sometimes people start to do in one language and so have to do in all other languages: there must be a reason for why you're doing it in another language if not it should be done in italian, russian, french..
With regards to your singles: who decides wich one must be realeased? You, the record company..or?
I have an imput on it but I have to take other people's judjment as well since I'm in the eye of the storm.
A great singer like you still studies and workes to get better?
Yes, you always improve with experience as you understand better what you are doing you can become a better vocalist
Is there a new singer that impressed you?
Amerie, she is gonna be great I think
If you were not a singer what would you have become?
I loved to be a lawyer or a Dj ‘cos I love to play music
You did some djing in Milan ,right?
I remember in Old Fashion..it was really strange cos i had nothing to loose so I jumped there and played some tracks..
How was born the idea to take Jimmy Cozier's song “2 steps” to create “2 steps back”?
I heard it when I was in Americ and I liked it very much but I saw the song didn't do to well in the uk and I felt that was a shame cos' it is such a cool song. The funny thing is that i was working with the same producers that did that song so when I was on studio working on Rise & Fall told ‘bout Jimmy Cozier's song and they told me: “Hey, why don't you rewrite the verses and remix it then put it on your album?” So we did it..
